sewing machine

it's time to upgrade .. i've managed with my brother machine through denim, wadding and all sorts but it's finally struggling to cope. I don't really do any decorative stitches but i like to use different fabrics, i'd particularly like to be able to use more stretch stitches. just not sure which make to go for?? any advice??

I love my Janome xl 601 which

I love my Janome xl 601 which I had for my birthday and costs about £300. It has some fab features and I particularly like the automatic 1 step buttonhole, automatic needle threader and the adjustable speed. Like you I did not want too many embroidery stitches and this has a few and a couple of different stretch stitches. It is really easy to use and sews beautifully. If your budget does not stretch that far try the John Lewis JL10 (£89) which is made by Janome, this has stretch stitch and a few other useful stitches and is good value.
